Founded by Raymond Mingot in 1964, the Mingot family winery has been passed down from father to son, and today is led into the third generation by Julien Mingot.

The 22 hectares of vines produce high quality fruit with a potential for aromatically complex wines.

The winery itself is located just outside the village of Savignac de l’Isle, and the vineyards are all in the surrounding area, within the traditional Bordeaux Right Bank wine region.

Situated at the top of the Isle River valley, the parcels benefit from long sun exposure and natural drainage, ideal for growing grapes. From Chateau Maréchaux there’s a direct view of the bell-towers of Bordeaux icons Pomerol and Saint Emilion to the East.

Julien works within the framework created by the terroir of his vineyards – which boast clay-like, chalky soils – to create wines of structure and elegance. With this natural-approach philosophy, Merlot was chosen as the ideal grape variety for the existing terroir. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are present in smaller quantities and include some of the original vines, planted on the property over 30 years ago.

No herbicides and no pesticides at Maréchaux. The soil is worked mechanically with grass between rows.

During the picking season, grapes are selected using a sorting table and crushed directly to the tanks. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation are completed in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, with subsequent ageing in traditional concrete vats. For the PUR range production no sulfites are added during the entire process.
