The company is owned by the Terzuoli family. Roberto is the winemaker. Roberto with his father Bruno and his mother Graziella take care of the company, from the vineyards, to the cellar up to the sale.
Since the XVII century, the Terzuoli family has always been involved in an agricultural field. During the 1970s, Bruno and Graziella were able to start a new winery business combining their rural origin, their love of wine, and their love for each other.

In the early days of the business, the Terzuoli began to plant the Sangiovese vine for the first time, although their main activity remained grain and legumes. They educated their only child Roberto to follow the same principles of passion and respect for nature and the ground on which he was raised. Roberto’s knowledge of the land was further expanded when he studied agriculture in high school. Roberto has also worked with some of the most well-known wineries that produce Brunello di Montalcino. Thanks to these experiences, Roberto seized the opportunity to expand his family’s business. To keep up with Roberto’s vision, the SassodiSole winery was expanded so that a full 10 ha of land could be dedicated to wine production. Moreover, a newly equipped cellar was built for managing the increased volume of harvested grapes.

Nowadays Roberto is SassodiSole’s agronomist and oenologist but he also deals with the promotion and marketing of the winery’s products.

SassodiSole is in Tuscany, within the municipality of Montalcino and within the UNESCO Val 'd'Orcia Park

SassodiSole is in north-east of Montalcino. South exposure of the vineyards. Medium-textured soil, with the presence of skeleton, dating back to the Pliocene era. The micro climate is hot during the day and cool at night. The mixed soils draw moisture and water and then release it during the summer, when there is no rain. Fortunately, here we have good ventilation, which dries the grape skins and avoids the creation of mold.

Organic farming is practiced. The type of training is low spurred cordon. Irrigation is not carried out. The work done in the vineyards is all done by hand, from the selection of shoots, selection of grapes, harvesting, pruning, cutting.

Tradition, biodiversity, and respect for the environment are important to us. This is why we practice organic farming and carry out all the processes manually.
